Ile de La Cité/St Louis
This area is the historic birth place of Paris, and its lovely square, place Dauphine, its famous Notre Dame de Paris Cathedral is today a romantic spot to stroll, and a favourite haunt for artists poets and writers, while in the past it was the home of the nobility.
Latin Quarter
The Latin Quarter owes its name to the language spoken up until the revolution by students and teachers in the district. Although universities, bookshops and publishing houses are still to be found here, the area is no longer only devoted to learning. It is a popular meeting place for clothes and shoe shopping, café culture and nightlife.
Jardin des Plantes
A rose garden with over 350 varieties; a collection of 2000 plants in the alpine garden; tropical hothouses nurturing flora from Australia, Mexico and the Mediterranean: the Jardin des Plantes is a journey in itself. Visit the the Ménagerie, home to primates, reptiles and other spectles, and look out for the Microzoo where you can explore the fascinating world of microscopic creatures.
